Specialized Services for Families with Special Needs
The Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort understands the needs of all families, especially those traveling with family members who have special needs. To ease some of the stresses these families face when planning or undertaking a family vacation, we have launched the MAX Program. MAX is short for Member of Autism Care Services and also named in honor of Max Behura, a boy with autism who - along with his older brother, Alexander - inspired Sheraton to recognize the need for such a program. The MAX Program at Sheraton Park Hotel has implemented specialized staff training, and aims to provide amenities and accommodations to meet specific needs, trained babysitting services, dietary menus and more to families traveling with children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. The goal is to promote awareness of ASD among our associates as well as to create a comfortable and accommodating environment for families traveling so that each member can enjoy the vacation to the fullest.
The program was introduced to Ian Gee, General Manager at Sheraton Park Hotel, by a letter from 16-year-old Alexander Behura. As Max's older brother, Alexander has experienced firsthand how tough it can be to travel with a family member with autism. Alexander came to Sheraton Park Hotel with a vision for a program incorporating professionally-trained staff and specialized amenity packages. Through his and his family's perseverance and collaboration with Gee and his staff, Alexander's vision has become a pilot program for Sheraton Hotels across the globe.
Guests interested in partaking in the MAX Program can call 1-800-325-3535 and ask for the MAX Program Rate. A hotel associate will give the family a personal call to further discuss program details and take note of the specific needs of the family.
